If you love creamy guacamole and zingy salsa verde, meet the happiest little mash-up on your snack table. Just whirl a ripe avocado, your favorite store-bought salsa verde, and a handful of cilantro until it’s silky-smooth and green. Three ingredients, five minutes, and boom—bright, tangy, totally scoopable goodness that disappears faster than you can say “game day.” Pile it next to a mountain of tortilla chips, cozy it up with garlic-parmesan wings and sheet-pan nachos, and watch the crowd go wild. Perfect for parties, snacky suppers, and any time a hungry crowd gathers.

What is avocado salsa verde (and how is it different from guacamole)?

Avocado salsa verde differs from guacamole because it's less avocado-forward and has more tang and juiciness. Salsa verde is typically made from tomatillos, green chilis, cilantro, and sometimes garlic and onions. Combine the two, and you have the perfect balance of rich textures and fresh flavors.

Can you use homemade salsa verde?

Yes, while this recipe is incredibly quick and easy when you use store-bought salsa verde, you can certainly make your own tomatillo salsa with this recipe.

What does avocado salsa verde go well with?

Tortilla chips are a must-have for dunking in this tangy sauce. But it's not only a dip! You can serve avocado salsa verde as a tasty condiment with grilled chicken skewers, baked salmon, or grilled flank steak.

Can you make avocado salsa verde spicier?

The spice level in this dip will depend on the salsa verde you use. If you want to amp up the heat, add a half (or a whole) fresh jalapeño to the blender. Removing the pepper's seeds and membranes will tame some of the spice.
