Trusty Trader Joe's carts are filling up all across the nation...and not just with the new fall items the grocer recently dropped! In fact, the latest trending TJ's find isn't even of the edible variety, but instead, a tote bag. And it's not just any old canvas sack, but a mini version of the brand's signature reusable shopping bag that comes in four colors: red, yellow, green, and navy. Best of all, the tiny totes are only $2.99, which, in addition to how cute they are, is a main reason for their going viral on social media.
The tote bags were initially released back in February and sold out shortly, leading to their being upsold on eBay for as much as $999.99 (much like limited-edition Stanley Cups have in the past). "The totes are a limited product rather than an everyday product at this time," a representative from Trader Joe's said in a statement. With lines accumulating outside of stores across the country, it seems Trader Joe's fanatics have taken the "limited" classification to heart!
TikTok user @gen.datu shows a California Trader Joe's filled with tote-awaiting customers. In the video, which she captioned "happy mini tote restock day," people can be seen patiently waiting in line to receive the coveted bag. "Thankfully the line was quick and streamlined! They sold out in 20 minutes 😅," Datu wrote in a reply to a commenter on her video.
Another post from a popular Trader Joe's account on Instagram, @traderjoesobsessed, gave fans a closer look at the tote bags in a short video. The clip showcases crates overflowing with the colorful 13-inch tote bags, which are made of a heavy duty, cotton-polyester blend, according to traderjoes.com. Each bag is complete with long, comfortable handles and two tiny side pockets perfect for holding your keys, wallet, or a small pack of mini dark chocolate peanut butter cups.
