Searching for the perfect cocktail to serve alongside your New Year's Eve dinner?  Look no further than a French 75, a classic cocktail that should be worked into your New Year's Eve party plan.

What ingredients are in a French 75 cocktail?

A French 75 looks like a light, bubbly cocktail, but don't be fooled: It packs a punch! A French 75 cocktail starts with a base of gin, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake this together with ice, then divide into your serving glasses. Pop open a bottle of bubbly to top off the mix and garnish with a pretty lemon twist.

What does a French 75 taste like?

A French 75 cocktail is a well-balanced drink, with herbaceous notes from the gin, a pleasant citrus tartness from the lemon juice, and a hint of sweetness from simple syrup. Sparkling wine, like champagne, prosecco or cava, gives the drink a refreshing effervescence.

Can I make a French 75 ahead of time?

A French 75 makes a great big-batch cocktail! Multiply this recipe by 2-3 times. Combine the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup in a small pitcher and hold it in the refrigerator. When ready to serve, give the mixture a stir, then transfer in batches to the cocktail shaker. (For 2 drinks, you’ll need 6 oz, or 3/4 cup, of the mixture). Shake, pour, top with bubbles and enjoy!
