A party dip is hard for any guest to resist—and an easy, three-ingredient recipe is too good for any party planner to pass up! When creating the ultimate line-up of Super Bowl snacks, be sure to put this sausage dip on your game day menu. You can whip it up in just 10 minutes and serve it straight from the skillet!
What is sausage dip made of?
Sausage dip is just three ingredients: sausage, cream cheese, and salsa. Though this combination is foolproof, the recipe is very flexible in terms of substitutions. Hot Italian sausage or Mexican chorizo could both add a spicy kick to the dip, and another melting cheese, such as Velveeta, would work well in place of cream cheese.
What kind of salsa is best for sausage dip?
Any sort of thick, chunky salsa works great for this easy dip. Or, swap out the salsa for a 10-ounce can of Rotel diced tomatoes and chiles. Want to kick up the heat? Try the Rotel with habaneros!
Can I make sausage dip ahead of time?
Sausage dip cooks in just 10 minutes in a cast-iron skillet! However, if you plan to travel with this Super Bowl dip, follow these tips for best results: Once the dip is cooked, transfer it to a small 1 1/2-quart casserole dish and let it cool. Cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to bake (or up to five days). When you're ready to serve the dip, let the dish come to room temperature for 30 minutes while you pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover with foil, and heat the dip in the oven for about 20 to 25 minutes, or until it's bubbly all over. If you like, before baking, top the dip with a handful of shredded cheddar cheese. Then, bake uncovered at the time suggested—no one will complain about this addition!
How long can sausage dip sit out?
Don't let this dip sit out for more than two hours. It's plenty easy to reheat, just follow the above directions.
