Part apple dessert, part drink, these caramel apple martinis are the perfect way to wind down a dinner party… or keep the party going! This fall cocktail stars fresh apple cider and sticky caramel sauce, and is a nice alternative to a lip-puckering appletini. Plus, with a short ingredient list, it's an easy cocktail you can shake up in no time flat for a Halloween party, Thanksgiving dinner, or happy hour on any autumn day!
What is in a caramel apple martini?
There are many variations of this classic cocktail, but this recipe calls for apple cider, vodka, and butterscotch schnapps. The neutral flavor of vodka allows the apple and butterscotch flavors to shine. A caramel rim and apple slice round out this sweet drink.
What is apple cider?
Apple cider is the raw, unfiltered, and unsweetened liquid that has been extracted from pressed apples. Apple juice is also made from the liquid extracted from pressed apples, yet it is filtered, pasteurized, and sometimes sweetened. Apple juice will work in a pinch, but the raw, unsweetened apple flavor present in apple cider is worth finding if you can.
What can you use instead of vodka in a caramel apple martini?
If you're not a fan of vodka, try making this martini with bourbon instead. It'll give the cocktail a more robust flavor that'll warm you right up on a cool fall evening!
What is butterscotch schnapps?
Butterscotch schnapps provides a sweet, caramel flavor to this martini. American schnapps are sweet, flavored liqueurs with a relatively low alcohol content that are often used as flavorful mixers with other, more potent alcohols. While some brands use artificial flavors, butterscotch schnapps is usually a combination of butter, brown sugar, and neutral liquor. The schnapps can be substituted with caramel vodka, which does usually have a higher alcohol content. Adjust the amount of regular vodka according to the desired strength of your individual drink.
