Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp.
kosher salt
- 2 Tbsp.
smoked paprika
- 1 Tbsp.
black pepper
- 1 Tbsp.
garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp.
packed light brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp.
onion powder
- 2 tsp.
ground cumin
- 1
1-pound T-bone steak, about 1-inch thick
Vegetable oil, for the grill
Directions
- Step 1Make the steak rub: Whisk together the salt, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, brown sugar, onion powder and cumin in a small bowl.
- Step 2Season the steak generously on both sides with the spice rub. (Store any extra spice rub in an airtight container for up to 3 months.) Bring the steak to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Step 3Heat a grill to medium-high and oil the grates. Grill your steak until marked and a thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 125˚. about 3 to 5 minutes per side. Remove the steak to a cutting board and let rest 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.
