Make mornings easier with air fryer bacon! Traditional methods for cooking bacon have their pros and cons: Frying bacon in a skillet is quick but can leave messy grease splatters. And cooking bacon in the oven produces beautifully crisp strips but takes more time. Enter the air fryer. This handy countertop appliance is the secret to cooking better bacon: It contains the mess and turns out perfectly cooked strips in minutes. Next time you want to whip up a BLT, top off a baked potato, or make a full breakfast spread, pull out this air fryer recipe for the quickest, crispiest bacon of all time
Do you have to flip bacon when air frying?
This recipe calls for flipping the bacon halfway through cooking so there’s no danger of over-browning one side. But every air fryer is a little different and you may be able to skip this step, depending on your model. Test a couple of strips. If the circulating hot air in your machine browns the bottom and top of your strips, you can cook it all the way through without flipping.
Is bacon too greasy for the air fryer?
Nope! Air fryer baskets are great for cooking bacon because they allow the grease to drain away from the bacon as it cooks. This results in crispy bacon that isn't swimming in its own fat. The rendered fat might start smoking after a few batches—just like it does on the stove—so pour off the fat if you’re planning on making multiple batches. For easier cleanup, line the bottom of the air fryer (not the basket) with aluminum foil.

Ingredients
- 1
(1-lb.) package regular or thick-cut bacon
Directions
- Step 1In a 6-quart air fryer basket, arrange 4 to 6 bacon slices in a single layer.
- Step 2Set the air fryer to 375°F and air fry the bacon until browned and crispy, 7 to 9 minutes for regular bacon or 12 to 14 minutes for thick-cut bacon, flipping halfway through.
- Step 3Transfer the bacon to a paper-towel lined plate or sheet pan to drain.
- Step 4Repeat with the remaining bacon, carefully pouring out any rendered bacon fat from the air fryer between batches.
Tip: Don't let all that beautifully rendered bacon fat go to waste! Use it in place of butter to cook eggs or spoon it over potatoes before you roast them.
