These little cornflake wreaths are so cute for Christmas. You can make them in about 20 minutes with just a handful of ingredients and even involve kids for a fun holiday activity! I cannot promise they’ll end up in even, round wreaths if tiny hands are helping, but that's okay because perfection isn't the goal with these Christmas treats. They’ll be delicious in any shape they end up, and with that much butter and marshmallow, how could they not be? You can even press the mixture into a buttered 8-by-8-inch pan and slice them into squares like a traditional cereal treat if you want!

Like with any good cereal treat, the marshmallow-cereal mixture will be sticky… very sticky. Spritz your hands with a little cooking spray before you start trying to mold the wreaths and it’ll go much smoother. If you don’t want to use cinnamon candies for the holly berries, red M&Ms work great. Oh, and add as much green food coloring as you like. I tend to like my wreaths really vibrant. Just have fun with these! This is one Christmas dessert that's almost impossible to mess up.

What kind of cereal can you use instead of cornflakes?

Rice cereal works great for these. Just make sure you use five cups.

How do you store cornflake wreaths?

These will stay fresh for up to a week stored in an airtight container at room temperature. You can also freeze them for up to three months. Let them thaw at room temperature before enjoying.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp.

    salted butter

  • 1

    (10-oz.) package mini marshmallows

  • 7

drops green gel food coloring or 1 tsp. water-based green food coloring

  • 5 cups

    cornflakes

  • Nonstick cooking spray, for your hands

  • 45

    small red cinnamon candies

Directions

    1. Step 1Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
    2. Step 2In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and cook, stirring, until melted. Add the green food coloring and stir until evenly distributed. Remove from the heat, add the cornflakes and stir until well coated. Let cool slightly.
    3. Step 3Spray your hands with nonstick spray as needed during this step to ease in the shaping of the wreaths. Take 1/3 cup of the mixture and form an even log. Join the ends of the log together to form a wreath. Place the wreath onto one of the prepared baking sheets. Continue with the remaining cornflake mixture.
    4. Step 4Decorate each wreath with 3 small cinnamon candies. Let sit until firm before serving, about 15 minutes.
