If you're not up to speed on the magic of dump cakes, this is how the dessert goes: Dump some sort of canned fruit filling into a buttered baking dish, sprinkle dry boxed cake over the surface, top with pats of cold butter, and bake. You don't even have to stir it! If this fruit dessert sounds crazy, that's because it is—but the results will blow your mind. It turns out sort of like a cobbler or crisp because it has fruit on the bottom and a buttery crust on top. It's also similar because, instead of slicing it, you just scoop it up with a spoon and eat it with vanilla ice cream! This apple version is so dang good (especially drizzled with caramel sauce) and unbelievably easy. If you need a last minute Thanksgiving dessert, make this!

What's in apple pie spice?

It's a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. If you don't have any apple pie spice on hand, you can mix up your own or just use pumpkin pie spice instead. These two blends have a lot of the same ingredients, but pumpkin pie spice also has ginger and cloves. It won't taste exactly the same, but it'll be close enough!

How do you store apple dump cake?

Cover and store the dump cake in the refrigerator for up to three days. Depending on how much cake you want to reheat, you can warm it in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for about 20 minutes or in a microwave for about 30 seconds.
