Cheeseburgers are wonderful, aren't they? The juicy patty, the melty cheese, the toppings—pure perfection. Well, these bowls are a whole new way to enjoy them! This isn't one of those recipes that leaves you wishing for more just because there's no bun involved. Instead, these patties are served on a bet of crispy seasoned fries (yes, fries!) and piled high with all the burger toppings your heart desires. Think lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, jalapeños, and maybe even a spoonful of chili, a fried egg, or sprinkle of crispy bacon if you're feeling especially daring. Trust me, this recipe is a total game-changer for burger night!
P.S. These bowls are a great way to revive leftover hamburger patties if you're like me and tend to go overboard for cookouts. Just reheat them in a skillet, slap on a slice of cheese, and go forth! Get your fix with even more burger recipes.
What's the best beef for burgers?
I like using an 80/20 blend because it gives you a much moister, more flavorful burger than if you were to use lean ground beef.
Can you make cheeseburger bowls ahead of time?
You can prep most of the ingredients in advance, but wait to bake the French fries until just before serving so they're nice and crisp. The lettuce and tomato can be shredded and diced up to a day in advance and stored in separate airtight containers in the fridge. Burger sauce can be made up to a week in advance and refrigerated. (Here's my favorite burger sauce recipe if you need it.)
For the burgers, you have two options: You can form the patties a day ahead and keep them covered and refrigerated until ready to cook. Or go ahead and cook the burgers and store them in the refrigerator for up three days. Reheat, covered, in a skillet over medium heat until warmed through, 2 to 3 minutes per side.

Ingredients
- 1
(28-ounce) bag frozen oven fries
- 4 Tbsp.
salted butter, melted
- 2 tsp.
chopped fresh rosemary
- 1 lb.
80/20 ground beef
- 1 Tbsp.
olive oil
- 1 Tbsp.
steak seasoning
- 4
slices cheddar cheese
- 1 cup
shredded lettuce
- 1
tomato, diced
- 1 cup
pickle slices
- 1/2 cup
pickled jalapeños
Ketchup, mustard, and/or burger sauce, for drizzling
Directions
- Step 1On a baking sheet, toss the fries with the melted butter and rosemary, then spread them out in an even layer. Bake according to the package directions (usually 25 to 28 minutes at 425°F).
- Step 2Meanwhile, prepare a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Step 3Form the beef into 4 patties. Drizzle the patties with the oil, then sprinkle with the steak seasoning and cook to your desired doneness, about 4 minutes per side for medium. Add a cheese slice to each patty in the final couple of minutes of cooking, cover, and allow to melt.
- Step 4Divide the fries between 4 bowls and top each with a cheeseburger, some lettuce, tomato, pickles, and jalapeños. Drizzle with ketchup, mustard, and/or with burger sauce.
