A home cook like Ree Drummond never wants to feel overwhelmed on Thanksgiving. "To me, that defeats the purpose of the holiday," Ree says, "which is supposed to be about spending time with family and friends!" Still, staying on top of everything can be really hard if you're cooking the big family meal and even the most experienced host can miss an ingredient (or two... or three) from their Thanksgiving shopping list.
Luckily, there are more than a few stores open on Thanksgiving—and Whole Foods Market is a great option. They basically have everything you need for your whole Thanksgiving menu. Plus, they even offer Thanksgiving takeout catering if you need a little help covering all the bases. Here, we're sharing Whole Foods' Thanksgiving hours, so you don't have to sweat if something slips your mind.
What are Whole Foods' Thanksgiving hours in 2024?
First and foremost: Yes, most Whole Foods stores are open on Thanksgiving this year—that's Thursday, November 28, 2024. According to the Whole Foods site, "Many of our stores are open for modified hours on Thanksgiving." So, while stores will be open, you'll want to head out with plenty of time to get any last-minute shopping done before they close for the day.
Your best bet is to call ahead or use the store locator tool to check your local market's holiday hours beforehand. Chances are many will close early, some locations as early as 3 p.m., and you don't want to show up to a locked door! And remember that Thanksgiving takeout we mentioned? Well, as long as your Whole Foods is open, you can actually pick it up on Turkey Day. Just be sure your order is placed at least 48 hours in advance.
And if you can't make it to Whole Foods, there are plenty of other great grocery stores open on Thanksgiving, in addition to the many restaurants open.
