Ree and Ladd Drummond House Tour

The house where Ree and Ladd raised their kids was the same house where Ladd grew up with his brothers—and it was full of happy memories. But by 2021, when everyone but Todd, their youngest, had moved out, the couple knew it was time to make a change. Foundation problems, plumbing woes and water damage plagued the 50-year-old house, so they said (a tearful!) goodbye to the old place and built a new home in the exact same spot. At the top of their wish list: a big kitchen (Ree) and lots of windows (Ladd), so they could see out in all directions. Ree also wanted to include some Spanish ranch elements, including arched doorways and exposed wood beams.

Tulsa designer Sherri Duvall—who teamed up with her husband, architect John Duvall, on the project—worked with Ree on a charcoal, blue and rust palette, with pops of golden yellow throughout the house. Sherri helped Ree and Ladd customize the spaces that were meant just for them: a mudroom for Ladd and a gorgeous new office for Ree. Now that the two have settled in, there’s just one thing left to do: Make new memories!

Entryway

Lounge

Ree filled the bookcase with family mementos, including bronze sculptures and a western landscape that belonged to Ladd’s parents. Ree and Ladd weren’t planning on putting the painting there, but they loved the way it looked with the gold sofa.

Living Room

A supersize ottoman makes this seating area extra comfortable. Ree plans to hang curtains on iron rods for the windows. “I’m taking my time and finishing things gradually,” she says.

Kitchen

Ree wanted this space to be gorgeous but very durable, and big enough for large family meals. The pot rack is her first ever. “I was afraid it would be more for decoration,” she says. “But having the skillets right there actually makes me want to cook more!”

A cushioned banquette is the perfect place for the family to gather in the kitchen. “Ladd and I are still in the getting-to-know-you phase with the banquette, but the kids have been breaking it in!” she says.

Pantry

Ree gave the pantry its own look, replacing the earth tones of the main kitchen with cabinets painted Amazon Green by Benjamin Moore. Like the rest of the space, the rolling ladder on a brass rail is practical and chic!

Mudroom

This is Ladd territory—it’s where he puts on his gear at the start of the day and kicks off his boots and washes up when he comes home. There are plenty of hooks for chaps, jackets and hats. Knotty alderwood paneling makes the space feel extra warm.

“This is the first time I’ve had a home office,” says Ree. “It’s so great not to have to work in the living room!” Duplicate floral rugs (sewn together!) brighten up the space, while double desks let her spread out papers, products and books. Ladd occasionally pops in to work too. “I allow him to use a desk a couple of hours a week,” she jokes.

Ree thought through every detail of this room, incorporating thin drawers for jewelry and accessories, plenty of spots for her colorful wardrobe, and a tall cubby for all her boots.

The mosaic floor tile was a quick decision—Ladd liked its vibe, and Ree is always a fan of turquoise. The Southwestern-style wallpaper is from Madeaux.
