You may have noticed a new trend popping up on TikTok and social media lately: the dirty soda. If you've never heard of it, a dirty soda is essentially adding non-soda ingredients like flavored syrups and dairy to an existing soft drink to create a one-of-a-kind flavor.
Of course, fans of dirty sodas know this concept has been around practically as long as sodas have. (Cherry Coke, right?) But the idea has gained popularity recently among the TikTokers making and sharing their homemade concoctions, and fast food chains like Sonic are now offering the option to "make it dirty" when you order a soft drink.
One of the most popular sodas to make dirty is none other than Ladd Drummond's drink of choice, Dr Pepper. And now the brand is making it even easier to get dirty, because Coffee mate just announced that they have teamed up to release a limited-edition Dirty Soda Coconut Lime Flavored Creamer. It is designed specifically with Dr Pepper in mind to create a creamy sweet beverage with a little zest, simply by pouring it into an icy glass of soda.
What does it taste like, you may wonder? If you like root beer or Dr Pepper floats, think of when they get a little melty at the end and the flavors meld together. It's like that with a little tropical twist. Um, okay, is it just us or is that starting to sound really yummy? Well, lucky for us, most major supermarket chains and mass retailers will sell the new release. It will retail for just $3.29 for a 16-ounce bottle.
Now the biggest question is whether we think Ladd Drummond, who is known to drink four Dr Peppers a day, will try it. On one hand, he's an only-in-the-can traditionalist. But on the other hand, Ree does add Dr Pepper to BBQ ribs and glazed Easter ham with fantastic results, so maybe we will see him dirty up a can or two. After all, Coffee Mate just made it so much easier with this new pour-and-mix creamer. So if you'll excuse us, we’re heading to the store to get some before it sells out and try the trend for ourselves.
