Who is Mel's father?

Let's dig into what is arguably going to be the biggest bombshell of season 5: finding out who is Mel's father. We learned in the mid-season finale that Mel's mother had a fling with someone from Virgin River, who presumably is our heroine's biological father. We also know from the trailer that this mystery man is currently living in Virgin River, which has spawned plenty of fan theories about his identity. The most popular answer among fans seems to be Doc, which would make sense given his age. We'll have our answer soon enough, but it certainly is fun to speculate!

A massive wildfire swoops over Virgin River.

One of the biggest parts of season 5's plot is the wildfire that the town of Virgin River faces. This devastating event sees different parts of town ruined and different people left stranded in the dangers of the fire. Incredibly scary, the community quickly embarks on a mission led by Hope (the town's mayor) to save those who are stuck, give medical attention to those who are burned, and find housing for those who lost their homes during this natural disaster. During this process, Hope hired Lizzie (who we met in season 2) as her chief of staff.

Vince is alive.

Virgin River season 5 picked up exactly where it left off: That grueling scene between Paige, Preacher, and Vince. While Vince received a heavy blow to the head by Preacher—he did so to protect Paige from Vince's ambush—season 4 ended with viewers not knowing if Vince was dead or alive, and what that would mean for Preacher and Paige. (Remember, Paige accidentally killed Wes—her abusive ex-husband and twin brother to Vince—in season 2.) Well, season 5 showed that Vince survived Preacher's hit, and ended up being arrested within the first few minutes of the show. While we feel somewhat safe that he remains in custody, he did end up telling the police that Preacher and Paige killed Wes. Now, if that weren't true, we wouldn't really be batting an eye. But since it is, the plot remains open, potentially being something that could come back to bite the two.

Preacher and Paige decide to go separate ways.

Soon after Vince is arrested, Paige makes the decision to leave town (again), this time seemingly for good. This is a decision made for the wellbeing of and her son Christopher. Together, the two will start their lives over—hopefully stress free!

Who is Preacher dating now?

Early on into the season, we're introduced to Kaia, a firefighter who piques the interest of Preacher. Now, Preacher has had more than a couple of romances throughout Virgin River's run thus far, but it seems that this new fling might be meant to last. Kaia takes a job closer to Virgin River after the town experiences a fire. While this initially seems like a big step in the right direction of their relationship, a turn of events adds to some suspense when Kaia discovers a body under some debris from the fire that potentially could be Wes...

Did Mel and Jack have their baby?

This season was a heavy one. We saw tragedy strike Mel when she suffered a miscarriage in the middle of the season. Mel is prone to high risk pregnancies, so she knew the risks this time around, but the outcome was still devastating for her and Jack. Taking a much-needed hiatus from life in general, Mel and Jack decide that they may still want to expand their family, just through different avenues.

Do Brady and Brie break up?

Yes, and it's honestly a doozy of a situation. Brady swears that he no longer dabbles with the things he did in his past, but Brie finds it hard to believe him, especially when Melissa (the cartel leader of the area) kidnaps him. Brady gets rescued by Mike (a police officer) and Jack, and it turns out Brady was telling the truth after all. Still, Brie finds it hard to trust Brady, and breaks up with him. The plot thickens when her and Mike form a relationship of their own.

Lizzie and Denny might be expecting a baby.

Here's another plot twist for you! Denny and Lizzie had chemistry right when they met. Even though the start to their romance was definitely a confusing one, the two have grown into one of our favorite couples of the show, especially after they got back together at the beginning of the season. Though, things started to shift when Denny began plans to go back to school, potentially leaving Virgin River. When he brought up the idea of him and Lizzie leaving together during the season 5 part 1 finale, he was met with a mixed reaction. This is when Lizzie brought to his attention that she might be pregnant!

Who is the father of Charmaine's twins?

This is something we've been dying to know! We were all upset with Charmaine when we found out she lied about Jack being the father of her kids. Well, we spent almost the entire season trying to figure out who it actually was. During the finale, after Melissa was arrested, Calvin—who we initially assumed was dead after an explosion in season 4—reappeared. Once having worked with Melissa (and Brady) in her illegal escapades, Calvin knew how dangerous she was. So, he opted to go "missing," but felt safe enough to return once he found out about her arrest. This is when he is revealed to the father of Charmaine's kids!
