Everyone's favorite Yellowstone cowboy, Kevin Costner is known for many things, but being a Barbie fan isn't necessarily one of them—until now, that is!

At the 81st annual Golden Globes, which aired on January 7, 2024, there was a surprising crossover between the Barbie movie and Yellowstone, one of The Pioneer Woman’s favorite shows, that certainly wasn’t on our 2024 bingo card.

Yellowstone star Kevin Costner surprised America Ferrera of Barbie with a word-for-word recitation of her famous monologue while presenting the Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series together. The actors took turns gushing over one another on stage, starting with America, who admitted that the poignant goodbye scene in The Bodyguard between Kevin and Whitney Houston gives her chills.

Kevin responded with a Golden Globe-worthy reenactment of America’s womanhood monologue from Barbie, in which her character tells Margot Robbie’s Barbie, “It’s literally impossible to be a woman. You’re so beautiful, you're so smart, and it kills me that you don’t think you’re good enough.”

A shell-shocked America continued the banter by asking her co-presenter, “Did you, Kevin Costner, memorize my monologue about womanhood from Barbie," to which he replied with a simple and sarcastic: “No.”

"But it's an important message, and it always serves to remind me what's possible in films. It just reminds me that when we take our time, when we manage to get it right, when film is working at its very best, it can be about moments you never ever forget," Kevin delineated.

The Western-actor continued to explain the significance of the movie moment to the audience, stating, "A look, a touch, a kiss, a speech, and you just had one of those moments. And all the actors nominated tonight know so well the power of writing that they've been gifted with and that they have the chance to live forever."

Ferrera lightened up the mood with a final one-liner. "Wow. So you're not going to do the rest of my monologue right now on national television?" she inquired.

From the nine Golden Globe nominations it received, more than any other movie this year, to the viral moment between America and Kevin at the show, it’s safe to say that Greta Gerwig successfully painted the town pink. Barbie ended the night with two wins for Billie Eilish's song "What Was I Made For" and a new category called cinematic and box office achievement, created for widely seen films.
