In 1974, a small part of the world was so graciously introduced to Reba McEntire as she began her run singing the national anthem at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City. Lucky for us, everyone else caught on quickly!
Her talent and gleeful presence brought her a large fan base, which came in handy when she released her self-titled album in 1977. Fast forward some decades later, the singer—who now goes by just "Reba"—has recorded and released over 30 studio albums, snagged a couple of Grammy Awards, and has even landed a spot in the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2011! That's not to mention her acting resumé, including her hit sitcom, Reba (in which she was obviously the lead), plus multiple movie and TV show roles.
Now, in 2024—50 years after she earned her big break—Reba is circling back to where it all started. That's right, the slot for national anthem singer at Super Bowl LVIII has been filled by none other than Reba!
It's safe to say that Reba has accomplished so much in her career. Given how radiant the superstar's energy is, some may not immediately know that Reba is 68 years old!
Reba Nell McEntire was born on March 28, 1955, but she has never been one to let her age define her.
In a 2019 interview with PEOPLE, Reba reeled us in with her thoughts about aging, and how old/young she actually feels.
Being 64 at the time, Reba stated that she felt "35, maybe 40," She also went on to say that it "used to be 60 years and one foot was in the grave. Now, maybe 85 is one foot, maybe 95."
Nowadays, Reba still has no plan on stopping what she's doing. One look at her Instagram, and you'll she's been busy as a coach on The Voice among other things.
Well, if you need us, we'll be listening to Reba's best country songs!
