If the dictionary could speak, it would probably say that the words "happy" and "summer" are synonymous with each other. Things are just better during the warm weather months—especially if you take the time to embrace something new! In fact, Pinterest just released its Summer 2024 trend report which shows that people are seeking out new twists on their favorite summer foods.

"This summer, trending searches show that people are embracing a bold and fearless approach to showcasing their unique tastes and personalities across all facets of their lives," the report says.

According to Pinterest, searches for “fun things to cook” have increased 1060% and “summer special recipes” have grown 135%. So, while your favorite seasonal foods will continue to make their rounds on your social media feeds, they might just look a little bit different.

"This summer is all about new twists on staple, healthy summer ingredients such as mango or avocado, reinvented sourdough recipes or exciting new tea drinks as the ultimate summer sip," Pinterest predicts.

It might be hard to imagine how mangos, avocados, and sourdough could look any different—but alas, the world is full of surprises and interesting things! Oh, and apparently coffee is out and tea is in? At this point, we just need to know the specifics. Well, without further ado, here are Pinterest's 2024 top summer food trends.

Reinventing Mango:

  • Mango float
  • Mango sago
  • Mango chia seed pudding
  • Mango jelly
  • Mango crepe

Oh, these twists are definitely something worth getting behind. For those who don't know, a mango sago is an Asian pudding-like dessert and a mango float is a traditional Filipino icebox cake dessert made with some ultra tasty ingredients (like ladyfingers and graham crackers). The fresh, tropical flavor of mango can also be used for making jellies, crepes, and healthy chia seed puddings.

New Ways to Use Avocado:

  • Avocado shake
  • Avocado ice cream
  • Avocado fries

A bowl of avocado ice cream is more than enough to raise eyebrows... but it's apparently what the people want! So, here's to not knocking it 'til you try it. If you end up not enjoying it as much as your curiosity made you believe that you would, you could always try the avocado bread or crispy avocado fries on the list instead!

Having Fun with Sourdough:

  • Sourdough bagels
  • Chocolate sourdough
  • Sourdough tortillas
  • Sourdough croutons
  • Cinnamon raisin sourdough bread

Cheers to all things sourdough! While making croutons out of sourdough bread might not sound out of the ordinary, many people will add it to their list of "things you haven't tried yet, but don't know why." Then, there's the chocolate sourdough and cinnamon raisin sourdough that sound absolutely divine! Who knew that a genre of bread could be so versatile?

Summer Tea Takeover:

  • Strawberry ice tea
  • Coco milk tea
  • Lemon ice tea

If you're not much of a coffee drinker, then it seems you are in luck—because it's tea central this summer! Honestly, a nice cold glass of any of these options (especially the strawberry ice tea 😍) seem like the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day.
