Just as Yellowstone fans saddled up for one last ride at Dutton Ranch, news broke that the massively successful show is reportedly returning for a sixth season. Originally set to end after season 5, part 2, negotiations are now in progress for a continuation of the series, which will focus on Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).
Even with these reports, anticipation is mounting for the second half of season five, set to premiere on November 10 on Paramount Network. After all, regardless of if another season takes off, there's a whole lot of Dutton drama to wrap up.
Coming almost exactly two years after the first part of the season aired, part 2 promises to be a dramatic culmination of years of conflict. That said, the upcoming season will likely revolve around John Dutton's kids, particularly the brewing feud between Beth and Jamie. And since Kevin Costner isn't returning for the final episodes, we can assume attention will also shift towards their father's mysterious fate.
Ahead of the highly anticipated premiere, Yellowstone star Cole Hauser revealed a "complex" ending to the show during an interview about his new Free Rein Coffee expansion. He also provided a behind-the-scenes look at the end of season 5!
When asked to describe the upcoming season in three words, Hauser immediately joked, "Oh my God, it's way too complex for that." So, you know it's bound to be a wild (West) ride from start to finish!
Hauser continued by saying, "Taylor (Sheridan) did an amazing job of taking a very complex story and wrapping it up as best as I think any writer can. There's a lot of different things going on."
Of course, the potential end of what quickly became a cable phenomenon comes with its fair share of emotion from cast members, too. Hauser gave a first look at this season's performances, saying, "I think Kelly's acting is superb. This year, Luke Grimes was great. I worked a little bit with Wes. The cast is, I mean, in my opinion, one of the better casts I've ever worked with, but this year was very emotional, and everybody did great. They did wonderful."
Fans will be saying "howdy" to Hauser's character Rip in the near future—and hopefully there's more to come for him in the Yellowstone universe. Until then, stay on top of all things Yellowstone by tuning into its popular prequels, sequels, and spinoffs.
