Christmas is a season of traditions, and few are as delicious as Christmas cookies. Ree Drummond knows that all too well! She has a whole slew of festive favorites that she’ll whip up during the holidays. From gifting boxes of cookies to setting out cookies and milk for santa (on the cutest platter, of course), few things capture the spirit of Christmas like the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked cookies.
There are classic sugar cookies decorated with festive frosting, spiced gingerbread cookies cut into fun shapes, and unique Christmas cookies like cinnamon roll cookies and holiday haystacks. No matter which you pick, the Christmas desserts play a starring role in holiday celebrations across the United States. But have you ever wondered which cookies are the most beloved across the country?
Well, Google has the answer! The search engine just released its annual map of "uniquely searched" Christmas cookies by state, based on Google Trends data from December 10 though 17. The map separates cookies into five categories: classic, festive, fruit/nutty treats, chocolate, and other.
From coast to coast, these festive favorites reflect local flavors, cultural traditions, and modern twists on classic recipes. Read on to see the map of the most popular Christmas cookies of 2024 and to discover what your neighbors are baking this season. Perhaps you'll even find inspiration for your own holiday cookie platter!

Did your favorite make the list? We’ll have to ask Ree if she agrees with Kitchen Sink Cookies in Oklahoma. Versions of that cookie are popular across the nation, though, with four states favoring them.
The most popular pick among Americans is Italian Christmas cookies, which remain the supreme choice for a second year when compared to the 2023 Google cookie map. Seven states searched for that recipe the most. Classic sugar cookies are also still a favorite, being the top search in four states.
There are also a few unique recipes climbing the cookie ladder this year! Both Buche de Noel and Christmas wreath cookies win in three states each. (If you’re wanting to try the latter, Ree even has a new Cornflake Wreaths recipe that you can check out.) Of course, beloved gingerbread cookies also came out on top in several states. Now that’s some sweet news!
