Once you tire yourself out (as you should, by the way), you may be looking for something more chill to do. This is where we'll recommend you sit back, enjoy the leftovers of your St. Patrick's Day meals, and throw on a good ol' Irish movie! (You know, to still keep the spirit alive.) There's no better place to look for such a selection than Netflix! The streaming service has plenty of Irish movies and shows that you can watch this holiday.

Many of these movies and shows depict Ireland's rich and, at times, tragic history. The Siege of Jadotville, for example, tells the heroic story of an Irish UN peacekeeping battalion during the First Congo War. Rebellion, meanwhile, looks at Dublin's Easter Rising of 1916 through the perspective of different fictional characters. Then there are lighter movies that offer entertaining stories with gorgeous sweeping views of the emerald isle. One could argue that any Martin Scorsese film is good, but we truly have to tip our hats to The Irishman. It was adapted from the nonfiction book of the same name, covering real history (with some fictionalized Hollywood magic, of course), and the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa. There's a lot of Irish banter and American-mafia drama—and it stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci.
The Siege of Jadotville
If you thought you were already in love with Jamie Dornan, just wait until you see him play the role of Pat Quinlan, an Irish Commandant with some thick skin. Watch as he leads a crew of 150 men in a peacekeeping mission in Africa during the '60s.

Here's an adventure that everyone can enjoy! An Irish boy, Keegan, and his best friend journey into the mythical world of the Megaloceros Giganteus. It's here that Keegan learns to dance through grief, much to the help of a magical herd of deer.
ReMastered: The Miami Showband Massacre
Despite what you might expect from its American name, the Miami Showband was one of the most popular music groups in Ireland in the '70s! This documentary explores the shocking bombing of the band's tour bus by a paramilitary group to uncover the truth.
Brain on Fire
This movie is based on a book of the same name about a young reporter in New York who is suffering from the onset of a mysterious mental illness. The film is directed and written by Irish director Gerard Barrette, making it a great option if you simply want to enjoy Irish filmmaking.
Derry Girls
This Irish series has been a huge hit with American audiences (and was its original channel's most successful comedy). The coming-of-age story centers on a group of girls growing up amid the political conflict of Northern Ireland in the 1990s.
