Ah, the slow cooker. There's no device more useful for whipping up classic comfort food with less effort. Even The Pioneer Woman, who loves to cook, understands how convenient it is to use. "My favorite slow cooker recipes are ones where you literally throw in the ingredients, turn it on, and walk away," she explains.
Case in point? Ree Drummond just took to social media to show just how easy it is to make her Tex-Mex Chicken Soup to celebrate the "most delicious time of year" also known as "slow cooker season." Naturally, she broke out her The Pioneer Woman Slow Cooker in the new pattern called "Brilliant Blooms" to help out. If you haven't seen it yet, it's one of her many new revamped kitchen appliances at Walmart that are as pretty as they are useful.
In the video, she combines boneless chicken breast, chili powder, cumin, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, a few different kinds of peppers, onion, and chicken broth into the slow cooker. Other than pressing the on button, all you have to do is chop up the veggies before you add them and shred the chicken after the soup is done!
The slow cooker really does do most of the work. For starters, there are three temperature settings to choose from: Cook on low or high heat settings, then switch to "keep warm" to maintain your food's temperature. The timer is adjustable and the handles lock the lid into place so there are no spills when you're en route to that tailgate or, in Ree's case, over to the table for all the fixings.
The current model is a six-quart capacity. Not sure of how many mouths that feeds? Think about how big of a chicken you buy: up to a six-pounder will fit in a six-quart slow cooker (or a four-pound roast). It's also the perfect size for your favorite slow cooker recipes. The removable stoneware crock and glass lid are also dishwasher-safe, meaning clean-up is a cinch.
So really, the question isn't whether or not you should buy Ree's pretty appliance. It's which color you like the best. And then of course, it's what you're going to make once you get it home: a comforting soup, a weeknight chicken dinner, or a hearty beef recipe. We know... decisions, decisions. 😉
