Remember when I held a highly socially relevant poll wherein I asked you all to search your hearts and souls and select whether to get the washer and dryer in COPPER or STAINLESS? Well, if you don’t remember, it was a very monumental and important time in all of our worlds. The peace of the world and the future of all of our youth depended on which color of washer and dryer you selected for me, and I was beside myself with worry the entire time, wondering what would become of my laundry room.

Not really! Ha ha ho ho hee hee. Ha. Ho. It wasn’t monumental. It wasn’t earthshattering. It wasn’t even all that important. But it was fun, and fun is my middle name. Actually, fun isn’t my middle name. I don’t even HAVE a middle name—have I ever told you that? It’s true. My mother denied me the basic human right of having a middle name, and I’ve been wandering around in the smoldering aftermath ever since.

What I’m trying to say is, the poll was a lot of fun. And COPPER won by quite a margin. And then I set out to have it delivered..

And then I realized something: next time I hold a poll where I ask you to choose between two colors of an appliance, I’d better make darn sure both colors are even AVAILABLE first.

I’ll be darned if I didn’t scour the entire country looking for one measly set of this copper washer and dryer:

Alas, I would never find one. Ever. Ever, ever, ever.

So I wound up getting this

…Which, it turns out, is actually known as “Platinum” instead of “Stainless.”

I’m happy to be here for all of you, asking you to vote in polls that are even more irrelevant than I thought they were in the first place. Thank you, thank you.

All of that aside, I’m just happy to have the washer-dryer. I wouldn’t care if it were avocado green. I’m not about to start getting picky here.

I’m most excited about its extra large capacity…

Because whether my brother is visiting (and he uses 89 towels every time he visits) or Tim cuts the water line to my house and I have to go to the Lodge to wash my family’s clothes, it’ll be nice to be able to wash a BUNCH of stuff at a time.

“Nice” as in “Heavenly” as in “Miraculous.”

Here are the laundry room cabinets. They’re still a little dusty after having been sanded, but you get the idea.

In a day or two, Jerry will insert glass fronts into the two top rows of drawers, where I’ll store extra sheets, pillow cases, towels, toilet paper, and toiletries for visiting guests.

And where not one thing will ever, EVER be out of place.

Because I have a long, long history of never messing up my drawers.

Well, except for the six in my kitchen and the four in my bedroom. But those don’t count.
