Back to the real world! After enjoying the Lodge over the weekend, we’re back in the home improvement saddle, hanging more doors, staining the deck, touching up interior paint, and installing more lights inside. It’s so much more relaxed now, though—the hard part’s behind us. I’ll be chronicling the laundry room and pantry this week, as those need much more work. For now, though, here are some peeks at some different areas in the joint.
It’s not in focus, but this area in the kitchen is where we’d originally planned to place the long dining table we’d originally planned to buy. Instead, we used our table from our house and put it in front of the fireplace, which freed up this space for a sofa, a chair, and a table. I think it’ll be nice to have a comfortable spot like this in the area where all the cooking’s going on.
And see those tall candlesticks against the rock wall? Missy made me buy them Friday night. I didn’t want to…but I really love them now.
Missy makes me do things, and I’m almost always pleased with the results.
Marlboro Man would hate what the morning light is doing to his hair, but here’s an up-close look at the sofa in the kitchen.
And besides, I love his hair. It’s very, very yummy…in a figurative sense.
Here’s the kitchen. The deer are like watchdogs, guarding my white plates from both Wedgwood and Tar-jay.
Just TRY to detect the difference.
Matt and Wetsy (and Baby Elliot) spent the night Saturday night, and we cooked bacon and eggs Sunday morning.
This table might be a little small for this wall, but I really like the curviness in the midst of all the straight legs. I do have to hang these four pictures on the wall, though, probably in a straight line. But I loaned my laser leveler to my next door neighbor and he hasn’t returned it.
Just kidding. I don’t have a next door neighbor. I also don’t have a laser leveler.
This is a crazy wood frame, mounted with several colorful wooden tiles. I’m not sure what its purpose is or where I’ll hang it, but it really spoke to my heart when Missy dragged me to the big city the other night.
Actually, what spoke to my heart was the fact that Missy told me I should get it… and I wanted to go home. And getting it was the quickest way I could figure out how to reach my goal.
I’ll regret this ’til the day I die, but I’m going to now state for the record that the zebra cushions have officially grown on me.
But I have to say, I love the commenter that asked, “What happened? Did the zebra eat the cow?”
I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed the comments about how the cow hides look like a herd of cows exploded.
You guys make me laugh.
The bathrooms still need light fixtures. And the pvc pipe will be coated with an oil rubbed bronze finish so they’ll be dark like the faucets. But the toilets flush, and that’s the most important thing.
Unless you’re a man, and then it isn’t the most important thing. If you’re a man, you just go outside.
Now…the bedrooms?
The bedrooms are another story. The bed frames should be here any day, but that’s as far as we’ve gotten.
The bedrooms need a little help. I shall be calling on you shortly.
Here’s the entry. It’s not a permanent solution, but while I finish reading all your suggestions for the Niche/NEEEEEEEESH, I moved our one and only bronze sculpture in there for now.
And see the fringe on those leather chairs? That’s what my legs look like.
Don’t tell anyone.
