Pasta carbonara, anyone?
If you follow Alex Drummond on Instagram, there's a good chance you've seen photos from her trip to Europe with her husband, Mauricio. The couple has been sharing content from their travels to Italy and Switzerland, giving us a glimpse into their site-seeing adventures and all the delicious food, not to mention some hilarious candid photos. (Alex may or may not have been caught catching some Z's in one of them. đ)
It was all a bit hush-hush at first. Alex first posted a selfie of her and Mauricio on a plane to her Instagram story and asked followers to guess where they might be flying off to. Options included U.S. cities such as Miami, Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago. Though the correct answer was technically New York City, she admitted in her next story thatâgasp!âshe had "fooled" us! The Big Apple was just the location of their connecting flight, and their next stops were none other than Milan and Lake Como, Italy!
"Hard to even fathom that a place this beautiful exists!!" Alex wrote on Instagram alongside a slideshow of photos. "Lake Como, you have our hearts (and our stomachs, still dreaming about that carbonara.)"
Several magical Instagram stories and another grid post later, the inspiration behind the trip was finally revealedâand it's actually so sweet!
"The main reason we traveled to Europe was to be there for Mauricio's brother, Carlos' proposal in Switzerland (secret's finally out)!!" Alex explained in the comments of her Switzerland compilation post. "So we ended up making a trip out of itâsort of a late anniversary celebration as well! Lots of happy things!"
