A mother's love travels far and wide—sometimes, even on an 8-hour road trip! 😂
Such was the case with Ree Drummond this past weekend when she hit the road with her hubby Ladd. They set out to visit their youngest son Todd who's attending college in South Dakota.
After officially becoming empty nesters, Ree and Ladd, had to adjust to their new way of life. Of course, this meant less laundry, dinners for two, and even renovating the house. But having some of their kids off in college also means lots of surprise visits from mom and dad. (Remember when Ree visited Bryce at the University of North Texas? Hey, you can't keep 'em away no matter how hard you try! 😉)
So this past weekend, Ree decided to drive the 8 hours (there and back we might add) to visit Todd this time for his college football game—and the look on Ree's face says it all.
"I am displaying the classic goofy, dreamy, I-get-to-see-my-kid-for-two-whole-hours empty nest sad-but-happy mom smile," she wrote on Instagram, "Let me know if you get it. (I love you, Todd.❤️)"
Of course, moms, dads, and even grandparents everywhere could relate:
"It could be 15 minutes, and we'd still have the same look. And travel the same distance," one commenter wrote.
"Yesssss… as I say, no one prepares you for the days where there are no shoes piled at the back door," wrote another.
After one commenter noted that they would drive to school functions just to see their grandkids for a short time, Ree replied with a heartfelt sentiment: "It's what we parents (and grandparents do!) do! ❤️"
If that weren't enough to make you reach for the tissues, Ree also shared a special moment between Todd and his dad.
She captioned the post with a simple statement: "Love. ❤️"
Enough said!
