I love this time of year.

The grass is really starting to grow.

From a rancher’s perspective, one of the best things about this time of year is not having to feed the livestock anymore. The grass is green and plentiful, which means you can stop buying feed for awhile.

It’s nice not to have to write that check every month.

The cattle are fine with the green grass now.

They still follow me around a little, but that’s more out of habit.

Kind of like how I look in the fridge for a Dr. Pepper every time I go in the kitchen.

Even though there’s plenty of grass, the calves still like their milk.

This one is a messy eater. It cracks me up when they get milk all over their nose.

These big calves were born last fall.

That’s another great thing about spring—all the the baby calves.

This bunch is on the road to our house.

I love seeing the cattle spread out across the pasture grazing every time I drive home.

Spring. It means green grass, rain, full ponds.

And no feed bill.

I love it.
