Christmas is kind of a big deal on the Drummond ranch. While you might think baking Christmas cookies and planning a big Christmas Eve menu is Ree Drummond's favorite part of the holiday, her most recent Instagram Reel tells a slightly different story.
The Pioneer Woman posted a jovial time-lapse of her setting up a fluffy Christmas tree for 2024. This process included a real Christmas tree, colorful string lights, a red velvet tree skirt, and four movies to help her pass the time.
The beginning of the video features a tall barren tree alongside a ladder that Ree uses plenty of times to string lights around every nook and cranny of the branches. As for the stunning end result, well, you'll just have to see it for your own eyes!
"Please, for the love of Pete, wait for the end. 😂 It took me the greater part of the day and four long movies," Ree captioned the post. "I will list the movies in the comments; they were an important part of my journey. (I guess ornaments are next?…🤪🎄)."
Now, you might be looking for the lowdown on Ree's tree and string lights. In true Ree fashion, she opted for a fresh fir tree and plenty of twinkly rainbow lights.
"Is this a real tree? It's beautiful," one commenter inquired.
Ree replied: "Yes, I love the scent and the mess!"
A few reruns of The Insider, No Country For Old Men, Interstellar, and Inception later, and Ree's tree is ready to be enjoyed (or at least decorated with ornaments) by all. Ree's living room may have been dark when she finished hanging the many lights, but that only allowed for their colorful hues to shine even brighter against the night sky! Speaking of the lights, she also revealed the exact make and model she ordered for her tree in the comments.
"The brand is Twinkly and I got the type called Strings," Ree explained. "I got them last year and they're so cool."
So, if you're looking for a new tradition to take on this year, why not take a cue from Ree and head to your nearest tree farm for a picture-perfect Christmas tree? Then order some rainbow string lights and get to hanging! Just don't forget to stream your favorite Christmas movies in the background as you work.
