It's a big weekend for the Drummond girls! Paige is heading to Charleston for her bachelorette party, and her sister Alex—who's also the matron of honor—will be right there with her. But this trip marks more than just a fun celebration. It's the first time Alex is leaving baby Sofia overnight and like any new mom, she's feeling a little emotional about it.
"I have been so busy this week prepping for my sister's bachelorette party," Alex shared in a recent Instagram story. "I feel like there's been so many things to get in order because, one, I am the matron of honor, so I'm doing all the planning. And, two, it's my first time leaving Sofia, so I've been trying to, like, make sure things are in a good place when I leave." Thankfully, Mauricio and his mom, Martha (also known as Abuela to Sofia), are on baby duty while Alex is gone. "It's fine. I'm fine," she joked. "I just have to not think about leaving her."
Still, she's doing her best to embrace the excitement by getting into full bachelorette mode—starting with a trip to the nail salon. "I got my nails done for the first time since I've had Sofia and I feel like a new woman," Alex shared. "They turned out so cute... the perfect girly nails for a girly weekend."
Before leaving, Alex gave Sofia a sweet (and hilarious) pep talk: "You're going to be with Daddy this weekend. And Abuela. I need you to be on your best behavior, okay?" she said. "You're going to get lots of fun snuggles. Lots of play time. Lots of time on your kick piano gym. And lots of milkies from the freezer."
She even reminded her daughter that while she can't tag along to Charleston, she is invited to the big event: "You can't come to this one, but you get to come to the wedding in May. Are you excited?" Sofia seemed a bit unsure. 😂
It feels like just yesterday Alex was the one heading off to her own bachelorette party in Nashville. (How has it already been four years?!) Now she's a mom herself, juggling the emotions of this next chapter while making time to celebrate her sister's turn down the aisle. One thing's for sure: Baby Sofia will have no shortage of strong and joyful women to look up to!
