On April 22, 2024, Alex Drummond's life changed forever. It's the day she found out she was pregnant with baby Sofia, and now, one year later, she's looking back on that moment with so much love and gratitude.
In a series of Instagram stories, Alex walked followers through the whirlwind of emotions that led up to finding out she was pregnant with Sofia. She and Mauricio had just returned from celebrating his dad's birthday in Mexico: "I had tested on Friday morning before the trip and it was negative," Alex explained. "So I drank a lot of tequila." (Gotta love the honesty! 😂)
But something felt different on the flight home. "I remember feeling so weird and having a couple weird symptoms," she wrote. "I told myself I was gonna hold my pee through the airport and take a test right when I got home."
Surprise! That test came back positive right away—but Alex admitted she didn't believe it at first. "I was for sure in denial and took probably 20 more tests after that," she joked.
The sweetest part of this whole thing? She had their golden retriever George deliver the positive test to Mauricio. A video from that moment (which Alex secretly recorded, of course) shows Mauricio equal parts stunned and overjoyed. "No way," he kept repeating in the clip. "This is so happy!" Alex recalled that they were "dead tired" and "slightly delirious" after the long weekend, but their biggest emotions were pure joy and excitement.
Looking back now, it's hard to believe how quickly time has flown. Sofia is four months old, full of personality, and growing by the day! "Never could have dreamed this up," Alex wrote alongside Sofia's latest milestone photo.
From one shocking moment in their living room to a full house filled with laughter and love (plus a whole lot of diapers), it's safe to say Alex's life has changed in the best possible way. And that's something worth celebrating every year. 💕
