There's something about Ree Drummond's garden that feels like stepping into a little slice of paradise. Recently, Ree gave a peek into her backyard on Instagram, complete with a gorgeous Oklahoma sunrise glowing in the background. Her caption,"If you ever can't find me, look here," says it all. It's her happy place, filled with flowers, fresh air, and peaceful mornings.
The video tour, beautifully paired with Cat Stevens' song "Morning Has Broken," captures raised beds overflowing with healthy plants soaking in the first rays of sunlight, tidy paths winding between rows, and an abundance of green everywhere. Watching it makes you want to grab a cup of coffee and stroll around the garden yourself—or at least appreciate anyone who spends their early mornings tending plants!
And then, of course, there are the dahlias. Ree is now in her second year of growing these blooms, and she's pretty excited about it. She recently posted a close-up video of one of her newest dahlias, writing: "Year 2. I'm learning. I have dahlia hope. Okay bye." You can almost hear her smiling through the screen!
Ree's history with dahlias actually stretches back quite a bit further—all the way to 2004, when her kids were still little and life on the ranch was even busier. Back then, inspired by a Martha Stewart Living article, Ree planted her first-ever dahlia tubers alongside roses, echinacea, and native grasses. Even with a newborn in the mix, she somehow managed to produce big, beautiful flowers. It might have taken almost two decades to plant dahlias again, but now that they're back in her garden, she's completely smitten.
In Ree's own words: "Dahlias are popular and dahlias are a trend because they are absolutely addictive. They take time, care, and daily attention if you want your plants to succeed. But that time and care is rewarded so bountifully, and every morning in a dahlia garden is like Christmas."
These days, Ree can often be found wandering around her garden, chatting with her flowers and other plants, and getting excited over each new bloom. Gardening takes patience, sure, but it seems like Ree wouldn't have it any other way!
