Alex Drummond doesn't exactly walk into a room and announce that she's The Pioneer Woman’s daughter—but every so often, someone figures it out.
In a recent Instagram Q&A, Alex responded to a follower who asked if she often gets recognized as Ree Drummond's daughter. "Occasionally!" she replied, before explaining that it's actually more common for strangers to approach her with a different kind of question. "More often people will say to me 'you look so familiar, do I know you from somewhere?'" she wrote. "And they can't figure out where I'm from."
As Alex put it, the moment can be "super awkward." On one hand, she doesn't want to blurt out, "Uhhh...my mom's on Food Network." On the other, she knows full well that's probably exactly where they've seen her. After all, Alex has been appearing alongside Ree on The Pioneer Woman for years, whether she was helping in the lodge kitchen, joining in for a family ranch segment, helping with filming during the pandemic, or, more recently, starring in episodes all about her wedding to her husband, Mauricio.
Fans have also watched Alex grow up through Ree's blog posts, cookbooks, and social media—from her homeschool days to her college graduation to her move to Dallas. That's a lot of milestones for people to remember, even if they can't quite place her face in the moment!
And while Alex doesn't usually spill the answer right away, she knows exactly what's going on when someone is squinting at her in the cereal aisle. Most of the time she'll just laugh it off, keep the conversation light, and let them connect the dots on their own.
