I haven’t previewed my weekly Food Network episode here on my blog for awhile, because I assume you know that on any given Saturday at 9:00 am Central Time, I’m on the teevee cooking and narrating and trying to remember how to walk and chew gum at the same time (in the figurative sense.) And I don’t want to beat you over the head with ME, REE by talking too much about my TV show on my blog.
Did that make sense?
However, today I felt it was appropriate to give you the heads up about this Saturday’s show because my strapping stallion of a hunk of a love-muffin of a husband is taking the reins (so to speak) and doing a whole show about feeding livestock in the winter. Usually he’s a little bit of a strong, silent type on the show, going about his ranching activities quietly while I yap and prattle on in the kitchen about not just what I’m doing at the stove, but what he and the kids are doing out and about.
But not any more! The era of yap is over! I really think you’ll enjoy this episode because while I do some cooking and highlight some good recipes, a big chunk of the show is just following Marlboro Man around the ranch, documentary style, and listening to him explain the ins and outs of feeding, and why it’s such an important part of ranch life in the wintertime. I got to watch an early glimpse of this episode, and I was mighty proud of the ol’ chap. And I actually watched as if I were a normal person watching the show and hadn’t had four children with the guy, and I have to say, I was rapt with attention!
I mean, slow cooker soup is great and all. But Marlboro Man filling his feed truck with feed…I dare say it’s a little more compelling. (Of course, I have had four children with the guy, so hard to say how much that played into things.)
Hope you can catch the show this Saturday morning at 10 Eastern/9 Central, friends! And if you do, please let us know what you think of the whole crazy approach. I love sharing the screen with Marlboro Man and the kids and would love to do it more in the upcoming shows we’re filming. They have a lot more to say than I do sometimes. Not that you would probably ever know this because I tend to talk a lot!
I can’t help it. I lived in the country for ten years before I started my blog, and I stored up a lot of thoughts during that time. I keep thinking they’re going to run dry eventually, but so far they haven’t.
(Lucky you! Ha.)
Love you more’n my luggage,
P-Dub
P.S. If you’re wondering why Marlboro Man’s jacket is so dirty in this photo…well, you’ll find out the specific reason on the show. It was an adventure, and made me realize I need to send the camera along with him more often.
