We had a rip-roaring Fourth of July celebration in Pawhuska (more on this in the next post!), and early the next morning, Ladd and I headed to the airport! Our boys' high school football coach got married in Mexico Wednesday, so we headed down to be part of the celebration. It was a little hard to get out of bed at 3:45 a.m. on July 5, but by 1:30 that afternoon, we'd landed in Cancun and were in a car on our way to Playa del Carmen, where the bride, groom, and all their friends were staying. I didn't take a whole lot of photos, but here's a little album of some of our fun moments!

Breakfast!

First things first: Here's one of my favorite things I ate. It's Huevos Motuleños, and here's what it was: crispy fried corn tortillas topped with fried eggs, mashed black beans, spicy sauce, ham, queso fresco...and peas, of all things! And those little delights on the side were roasted and fried plantain slices...the whole things was delicious and everything I'd expect from a breakfast in Mexico. Loved it!

Relaxed Ladd Face #1

Ladd and I have had a very busy...let's see. Week? Month? Year? Decade? 😊 Anyway, it was nice for Ladd to be completely away from everything--cows, calves, horses, fences--for three days. He had no choice but to veg out and drink in the relaxation time! By day three he was antsy to get back, but I loved seeing him so relaxed.

Wedding Time!

Here are our wedding outfits. Breaking news! Ladd wore shorts! In public! I started referring to them as Lorts (Ladd + Shorts) and, well...I thought he looked mighty handsome in them. I had bought him a pair of flip flops, but he doesn't like the feeling of things between his toes and by the time the wedding rolled around, he already had a blister so he just opted for his running shoes. On the beach. 😂 Is your husband like this?

This was the reception, and we had the best time! We danced a little bit, ate a lot, and relaxed with our friends who'd also made the trip to the wedding. Oh, and this was exciting: Another football coach from a different town asked me to dance, so we went to the dance floor and did the two-step, which I know how to do. However, then he started spinning me and when the song was coming to an end he said, "Okay...no matter what happens, just hold onto my shoulder." So I held on and he dipped me so deeply that the top of my head kissed the dance floor and my entire vertebrae popped. It felt great! I never thought I'd ever have a chiropractic adjustment on a dance floor in Mexico, but there's a first time for everything.

Our Last Night

Our last night, we met up with Beth and Jason, good friends and neighboring ranchers, for a yummy dinner. I enjoyed busting out the tropical prints for my wardrobe choices, and I also enjoyed being in a place where the humidity makes you not give one thought to your hair at all, because all hair efforts are futile anyway. The verdict: Ladd and I had a great time and we're so glad we went! We had a lot of things tugging at us in the week or two leading up to the trip, but we're so glad we made it and got to celebrate our good friends' big day. I can't wait to go back to Mexico and do some serious exploring!
