Ree Drummond's fun-loving granddog George may only be a year old, but he's already made enough magical memories with Alex, Mauricio, and the rest of the family to last a lifetime!
George the golden retriever is a certified Drummond dog who's named after a yellow Labrador retriever back when Alex was young. Since he moved into Alex and Mauricio's Dallas home in January 2023, George has proven to be a furball of joy who greets the day tongue out and tail wagging. He's forever making his owners giggle, whether he's watching the solar eclipse or frolicking on his own private splash pad.
Alex used to cradle George like a baby back when he was a pup and he remains her cuddlebug. But he's grown into other roles including peppy walk companion and awesome photo-shoot assistant to Ree. "He's the world's friendliest dog," Alex says.

George Meets Grandma Ree
Last March, George took his first trip to Drummond ranch, where he met The Pioneer Woman for the first time and she showered George with kisses. Although Ree and Alex were supposed to be shooting Ree's latest clothing line for Walmart, George was a welcome distraction. As Ree said, "We just want to cuddle.”
George Goes to His First Baseball Game
Life in the Scott family isn't always a walk in the park, but it has been a Bark at the Park. When George went to this special Texas Rangers game for furry baseball fans, he got to participate in a "pre-game warmup" on the field, play with other doggos, and eat lots of hot dogs.
George Makes a Splash
It doesn't have to be the dog days of summer when you have a splash pad. During a Dallas heat wave, Alex came to a rescue with one so George could cool off. He splished, splashed, and had a doggone good time!
George Celebrates His First Birthday
Another year older, another year wiser, another year… fluffier! The adorable George rang in his first birthday with a "pawty" in Alex and Mauricio’s backyard, complete with gold balloons, a dog-friendly cake in the shape of a bone, and some four-legged friends. "The other dogs weren't interested in the cake but George and Finn had no problem finishing it themselves," Alex captioned a hilarious video of the birthday boy.
George Makes a New "Friend"
If there's anyone who deserves a statue of himself, it's George! The pup met his match last winter when Mama Alex picked up a Christmas golden retriever decoration that looked uncannily like George. "Not sure how to feel about his new friend," Alex captioned the snap.
George Views The Solar Eclipse
Although George is usually focused on a nearby bunny or Mauricio's water bottle, he took a break from his regularly scheduled programming to view the total solar eclipse with his parents and Aunt Paige in April. The eclipse was great and all, but the main attraction had to be George in his eclipse glasses.
George Assists Ree at a Photo Shoot
George hasn't been a Drummond for very long, but he's already proven to be an asset to his grandma's brand. The pup showed off his modeling skills in a spring photo shoot for Ree's Walmart line, sitting politely in front of a platter of chicken. "This started as a photo shoot for other things, but George took over," Ree captioned the snap. "My butthead country dogs could never..."
George Takes the Sweetest Nap
As Alex and Mauricio's first pet, George has gotten more than his fair share of toys, dog beds, and treats galore—not to mention plush couches, beds, and carpets he can lounge on! However, in true George fashion, he has taken to what Alex called "cold tile floor naps" in a popular spring pupdate. Interesting choice, George!
George Finds Out He's Going to Be a Big Bro
Being an only furbaby can be lonely—but George doesn't have to worry about that anymore! Alex and Mauricio broke the news of their pregnancy with a fun family photoshoot. The snaps featured Alex's ultrasound and a smiling George wearing a bandana emblazoned with the words "Big Brother."
George Eats Alex's Gender Reveal Cupcake
Alex and Mauricio revealed their baby's gender with a mysterious filled cupcake, which they let George eat to reveal its pink center. "Hopefully, George loves his little sister half as much as he loved those cupcakes," Alex captioned the video.
