Alex and Mauricio just headed back to Dallas after a nice weeklong visit on the ranch, and just a warning: I have so many Sofia photos and stories to share. I am now a grandparent influencer, I guess. Ha.

One thing this week has shown me is just how lucky I am to have daughters, a granddaughter, AND a mother to share it all with. Four generations is something to give thanks for, and I do every morning (with a big cup of cold brew! 😊)

I hope you enjoy the photos below!

Week 1

Looking at this photo from the first few days after she was born, I can't believe she's already eight weeks old! I thought I was in love in this photo...but my oh my, the love has multiplied!

Throwback!

Alex shared this photo on her social media this week, and I can't believe how much she and Baby Sofia look alike. While I do occasionally see a glimpse of Mauricio, Sofia is (so far!) all Alex. This has revealed a sweet side of Mauricio, however: This week as we were remarking on the similarities between Sofia and Alex, I joked, "I'm sorry, Mauricio! She's all Alex so far!" He replied that when Alex was pregnant, he hoped that the baby would look like her. ā¤ļø

Gee and Sofia!

About three weeks ago, when Ladd and I were in Vail with Paige and Bryce, my mom (whom we all call "Gee") drove down to Dallas to see Sofia because she couldn't stand to wait any longer. Mauricio was out of town for the night, so my mom stayed the night and tortured me by sending the sweetest photos. It was the only time I ever wished I were in Dallas, Texas instead of Vail, Colorado!

It Runs in the Family

My mom loves babies, and I love them just as much. Of course, all parents and grandparents love babies, but I have found that some respond to older babies or toddlers more than the infant stage. My mother-in-law Nan, for example, absolutely lived her best life as a grandmother once the grandkids reached about two-and-a-half. But not my mom and me: We excel at that fresh-out-of-the-womb stage. My sister-in-law Missy always teased me that I never put my babies down; they were always in my arms. Have I mentioned I love babies?

Gee on the Ranch!

While Mauricio and Alex were visiting this week, Gee dropped by to get another snuggle in. This was a candid shot, not posed, and the smile on her face says it all. Have I mentioned my mom loves babies?

It's not lost on me how lucky I am that my mom is here to celebrate her first great-grandchild. It hurts my heart that Nan isn't here in this photo. She should be! As a mother of only boys, Nan was so close and connected to Alex and Paige, and Sofia's arrival would have made her so happy. She's definitely here in spirit, and again---so grateful for my mom! (We needed Paige in this pic, but she was feeding cattle, haha.)
