See All the Adorable Photos of Cate Carter, Paige Drummond's Flower Girl at her Wedding
Cate absolutely understood the assignment!
I'm going through our piles of photos from Paige's wedding in May, and I couldn't skip sharing photos of Cate, Paige's flower girl. Cate is the daughter of Haley, our longtime family friend (and my kids' babysitter in high school!), who has worked with me for over ten years and who I would describe as my right hand woman in many important ways! The decision to invite Cate to be her flower girl was a no-brainer for Paige because of our close relationship with Haley...oh, and because Cate happens to be adorable. She took her role very seriously in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and once the wedding was over, I texted Haley and summed it up in one phrase: "Cate understood the assignment." Cate and Haley!
Haley was just a little older than Cate when I married Ladd and moved to Pawhuska, and our families went to church together. Haley's a glorious mom and fantastic woman, and Cate is her spitting image. This was early on the day of Paige's wedding---Cate arrived to get ready.
Hair and Makeup
Cate was game for all the wedding party activities, including getting her hair done...and a teeny bit of blush! She enjoyed getting to sit next to Paige while she was getting her glam, and this sweet smile says it all. I was never a flower girl as a child, but I'm not sure I would have been as calm and cooperative as Cate was all day!
Sweet Moment With Paige
I love this photo. I'm going to gather all the photos with Cate and make a little memory book for her. I hope she remembers this day, she was definitely one of the high points.
And...She's Off!
The wedding party had all walked in and it was Cate's time to shine. I want you to look at Haley (just ahead and to the right.) You can tell she's feeling a combination of pride, excitement, and slight apprehension. (On another note, I love Cate's dress.)
So Far So Good
Leading up to the wedding, Haley confessed that she was slightly worried but trying to think positively about whether Cate was up to the challenge of walking down the aisle, smiling, and doing her flower girl duties. In the next couple of photos, you'll see how it turned out...
Quick Look at Mom
This is high on my list of favorite photos from the entire wedding. And okay, there are a lot on that list, haha. But just look at Haley. Cate looked around for her as she was walking down the aisle and Haley locked eyes with her, waved, and encouraged her along. I love Haley's smile in this pic!! Sums up motherhood right here.
You did it, Cate!!!
Ahh...I can feel Haley's sheer relief in this pic. Cate was absolutely perfect and was the star of the show. (Well, one of the stars! The bride was one, too. 😊)
Cate was Perfect
Cate found a fun rock to stand on, and she fit right in with the wedding party! She was pensive at times, smiling at others, and at one point she climbed on the rock and spun around a bit. (She looks like Audrey Hepburn here!)
Cate and the Dance Floor
Around the first dances, Cate found a comfy chair by the dance floor and plopped down for a front row seat. Such a sweet moment.
My Favorite Photo
This one's my favorite---Paige and Ladd and the Father-Daughter dance, with Cate watching every dance move. Such a sweet memory, and I made sure to warn Haley not to blink....Cate will be a grown-up before we know it!

Together with her husband Ladd, Ree has opened several bustling businesses in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, including The Pioneer Woman Mercantile—a bakery, restaurant, and general store that draws visitors from across the country (many come for the biscuits alone!), P-Town Pizza, Charlie’s Ice Cream Shop, and The Boarding House, a charming hotel with eight different rooms decorated by Ree and Ladd.

Ree appears regularly on national TV shows like Today, Good Morning America and more—all while managing to keep flour off her shirt.
Wife, Mom and…Grandma!
Ree’s kids (daughters Alex and Paige and sons Bryce and Todd) are all grown up, and as of December 2024, Ree is the proud grandma of the cutest baby ever, Sofia Scott, born to Alex and her husband Mauricio. Ree still cooks for Ladd (and the kids when they’re home), and she also looks after a few mischievous ranch dogs.
